What is false angelwing?

False angelwing, also known as pleuritis or pleurisy, is a type of respiratory disease that affects birds, especially waterfowl. It is caused by a viral infection and often occurs in birds that are kept in crowded or unsanitary conditions. The disease is characterized by an accumulation of fluid in the air sacs and lungs, making it difficult for the bird to breathe. Symptoms of false angelwing include labored breathing, coughing, wheezing, and a swollen or stiff neck. Treatment usually involves supportive care such as providing a warm, dry environment and administering antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infections. However, in severe cases, the prognosis may be poor and the bird may not recover. False angelwing can be prevented by providing a clean, spacious living environment and by minimizing stress on the birds through proper handling and nutrition.
